HB 2Signed into law89th Regular Session (2025)
The state put billions more into public schools, with much of it aimed at teacher pay
What it does
HB 2 raises state funding for Texas public schools. A large share is set aside for teacher raises that scale with years of experience and district size, and the bill also directs money toward special education, early reading and math support, and school safety requirements.
What it means for your community
Teachers in your district may see a raise, and campuses may add reading or math staff. Because much of the money is earmarked for specific uses, your district still has to budget carefully for everyday costs like buses, utilities, and buildings.
